A CHEERLEADER'S RESPONSIBILITY

A crazy coach, a undedicated cheerleader, a bad decision by a squad mate, no matter how long you've cheered or what squad you're on, most likely you've experienced a not so cheerful situation when it comes to cheerleading. This gives us strength. Cheerleading is not only a sport , it's a semi family. Backstabbing, non sport, two face, snobby, egotistic, etc., these are all words associated with cheerleading. I am not going to sit here and talk about the stereotypes that we cheerleaders face; I am going to talk about something else. We all know the stereotypes that we cheerleaders face so I will not reiterate them. As cheerleaders we need to make sure that our education comes first. We have higher expectations to live up to as to not exemplify the traits in which we've been stereotypically given. As we wear our uniforms on game days, we should be aware that those uniforms do not define who we are. WE define who we are. People do not only judge us by that uniform, they define us by our actions, words, and minds. We cheer for our fans, as well as ourselves. Cheerleading as any sport, gives its athletes a sense of accomplishment and pride. It is a sport that we pride ourselves in being a part of. In it, you can have teamwork, responsibility, time management, perseverance, dedication, athleticism, self confidence, assurance, and so much more.
